NEC's solution for memory-hungry embedded applications

Memory-hungry embedded applications and EMI-sensitive applications are specially catered for by the latest S Series range of RISC based microcontrollers from dedicated NEC distributor, Sunrise Electronics.

More than 25 new products in this family support FCAN and I2C interfaces, supporting 100 pin (SG2) and 144 pin (SJ2) devices, fully packed with functionality. Together with CAN-less devices the S Series offers the necessary flexibility for numerous applications in the automotive sector and in industrial designs such as motor control or building management.

The single-chip V850ES/SG2 offers a wide variety of memory configurations with high densities in various combinations from 256Kbytes ROM and 24Kbytes RAM up to 640Kbytes ROM and 48Kbytes RAM. The V850ES/SG2 supports a host of on-board peripherals and an optional FCAN interface. An equivalent single-voltage Flash device is available for most of the ROM devices.

Features of the V850ES/SG2 include a 32-bit RISC CPU operating at 20MHz giving a 50ns minimum instruction execution time. On chip facilities include 84 I/O’s, three standard UARTs, five 3-wire serial interfaces (CSI), a 12-channel A/D-converter with 10-bit resolution, two channels of D/A-converter with 8-bit resolution, eight 16-bit timers plus a Watch timer and watchdog timer.  It supports nine channels of 16-bit PWM and has optional I2C and FCAN buses. The V850ES/SJ2 adds even more functionality with higher I/O count and an optional second CAN interface.

On chip debugging facilities help development with this device. Sunrise Electronics can also provide design-in support and a range of development and debugging tools and software.

The V850ES/SG2 is available now in a choice of 100-pin QFP & LQFP packages.
