Dedicated distributor, Sunrise Electronics has just introduced a new range of solid-state relays from NEC Electronics. The PS710 series are suitable for various applications where mechanical relays are going to be replaced by electronic relays as a result of the increase of maximum permissible currents. In addition to telecommunication solutions, applications include factory automation, measurement equipment and heating systems.

NEC’s new PS710-family is suitable for currents up to 2.5A AC and 5A DC. This new family of OC-MOSFETs™ (optically coupled MOSFETs) are all housed in 6-pin DIP packages. The isolation voltage between input and output is 1500 V rms. Typical input operating current (=LED current) is 10 mA. The typical turn-on time is below 5 ms (milliseconds). The PS710-family features low on-resistance, which can be as low as 0.1 Ohm max (PS710B-1A).

The OC-MOSFETs are highly reliable (no mechanically moving parts) and have a long lifetime. Initially the PS710-series consists of several types. The PS710A-1A has a maximum 60 V collector-emitter voltage and a maximum 1.8 Ampere AC (3.6 Ampere DC) continuous load current. The PS710B-1A also has a maximum 60 V collector-emitter voltage, with a maximum 2.5 Ampere AC (5.0 Ampere DC) continuous load current. The PS710CL2-1A offers a maximum 60 V collector-emitter voltage, with a maximum 2.0 Ampere AC continuous load current and the PS710E-1A provides maximum 80 V collector-emitter voltage with a maximum 2.0 Ampere AC (4.0 Ampere DC) continuous load current.

For surface mount – lead bending version of above relays – the ordering part number is PS710xL-1A. Each solid-state relay is available in two versions. The PS710x-1 series is adapted for soldering with lead and the PS710x-1-A series is the ideal choice for lead-free soldering. Samples are available on request from Sunrise Electronics.
