Sunrise adds more new transflective panels from NEC

SUNRISE ADDS MORE NEW TRANSFLECTIVE PANELS FROM NEC

New technology with high visibility in diverse ambient lighting conditions extends to new module formats from 6.5 to 12.1inches

Dedicated distributor Sunrise Electronics has just announced that several new modules will be added to its existing range of high visibility transflective colour TFT modules from NEC, aimed at industrial applications and the instrumentation markets.

Last year Sunrise introduced a completely new type of LCD module from NEC known as a transflective panel. The transflective LCD panel is based on a combination of NEC's advanced transmissive and reflective LCD technologies and results in well-balanced features for both LCD operation modes. For example, in reflective mode, the first 10.4in transflective panel has a high reflectivity and a contrast ratio of 15:1. In transmissve mode, built in backlighting achieves a luminance of 250 candelas per metre squared (cd/m2) and a contrast ratio of 100:1, allowing the module to be used in an extremely wide range of lighting conditions. It also has a fast response time of 5ms and a wide viewing angle.

The first 10.4inch VGA module has now been complemented by an 8.4inch SVGA panel, available soon from Sunrise. These will later be joined by a 6.5in VGA module and a 12.1in SVGA version, providing a comprehensive range of panels for industrial and retail applications. Developments in progress include a 7in module with a wide aspect ratio and an exciting 15in XGA version.

Many of the new transflective range of panels have been developed to be mechanically compatible with existing panels in the NEC range, making them ideal for system upgrades as well as new applications.
