SUNRISE RELEASES NEW LOW-COST STARTER KIT FOR

NEC System-on-Chip Lite+

Dedicated NEC distributor, Sunrise Electronics has just introduced a new low-cost starter kit for the System-on-Chip Lite+ configurable microcontroller device. The System-on-Chip Lite+ Start it! development board is an evaluation system for designers who want an easy introduction to NEC Electronics' ARM-based System-on-Chip chip and configurable microcontrollers.

The Start it! development board makes it simple to get started with the System-On-Chip Lite+ device. The on-board System-on-Chip Lite+ prototype chip includes an ARM7TDMI-based embedded microcontroller system with an integrated on-chip Ethernet MAC, an advanced Memory Controller and other standard peripherals. The functionality of this system can be expanded by means of sections of user defined logic (UDL) implemented within a mid-range FPGA with 100K raw ASIC gates. An additional 4 Mbytes of Flash ROM, 32 Mbytes of SDRAM and SRAM (optional) memory are also available on board to support initial software implementations with the board. The system also has a JTAG port for connection of standard ARM® debugging tools, a standard Parallel port for program/memory download or boundary scan of the FPGA and a Serial port conforming to the RS232-C communication standard.

Connection can be made to the Start It! board from a standard PC via an on-board 10/100M Ethernet interface as well as to USB interfaces in the FPGA. It comes fully equipped with a µClinux operating system, including a small web server application that allows immediate operation from a standard PC using the Ethernet interface.

The System-on-Chip Lite+ Start it! Development kit can be ordered now from Sunrise

About Sunrise

Sunrise Electronics is the only dedicated franchised distributor in the UK electronics market and provides a high level of technical design support to customers for the whole range of NEC semiconductor products including microprocessors, microcontrollers and ASICs as well as memory and colour LCD panels. The field sales team is technically qualified to ensure total support from design concept through to purchasing.

Sunrise is a direct ship distributor. The majority of shipments are delivered directly to customers from NEC’s own ISO9000 warehouse. This ensures reduced handling, correct packaging; especially for fine pitch surface mount devices requiring vacuum sealing, factory fresh product and timely deliveries.
