Sunrise cuts down glare with new TFT panel from NEC

High contrast, high luminance 12.1inch LVDS panel

Dedicated NEC distributor Sunrise Electronics has just announced that it is now shipping a new high resolution display in its extensive range of colour TFT modules from NEC. It is mechanically compatible with previous displays in the same screen size, allowing developers to enhance system performance or upgrade equipment without changing mechanical design.

The new 12.1 inch panel is the NL8060BC31-41D from NEC offering the industry standard resolution of 800 x 600 pixels in either 16,777,216 or 262,144 colours. This makes it suitable for industrial applications such as control panels or information systems.

The NL8060BC31-41D has a wide viewing angle of 80º (side-side) 80º (up) and 60º (down). Two replaceable high efficiency cold-cathode fluorescent lamps are used for backlighting and give it a high luminance of 400 candelas per metre squared (cd/m2). This panel has a very high contrast ratio of 600:1 and an antiglare polarizing surface making it suitable for use under a wide range of ambient lighting conditions.

Input is via the industry standard LVDS digital interface, with 8bit or 6-bit digital data for RGB colours plus dot clock and data enable signals. Response time is fast at 25ms (T_on + T_off).

Operating over the extended temperature range of -20 to +70º C, wider than previous types, these panels are suitable for a wide range of applications such as industrial PC, monitors in process control and display terminals for control or information systems.
