SUNRISE ANNOUNCES NEW 12.1 INCH TRANSFLECTIVE TFT

Latest NLT panels from NEC offer high visibility in diverse ambient conditions

Dedicated NEC distributor Sunrise Electronics has just announced that it has now added a new 12.1 inch transflective display to its extensive range of colour TFT modules from NEC.

Last year Sunrise introduced a completely new type of LCD module from NEC known as a transflective panel. The transflective LCD panel is based on a combination of NEC's advanced transmissive and reflective LCD technologies and results in well-balanced features for both modes. A transflective display with both high transmissivity and high reflectivity delivers a high quality display under low light and bright light (outdoor) conditions and is known as NLT (Natural light technology).

The NL8060BC31-32 is a new NLT transflective panel from NEC that offers the industry standard resolution of 800 x 600 pixels in up to 262,144 colours. This makes it suitable for industrial applications such as control panels or information systems.

The NL8060BC31-32 offers a wide viewing angle of 70º (left and right), 45º (up) and 55º (down). Two replaceable high efficiency cold-cathode fluorescent lamps are used for backlighting and give it a high luminance of 400 candelas per metre squared (cd/m2). This panel has a very high contrast ratio of 600:1 making it suitable for use under a wide range of ambient lighting conditions. Input is via 6-bit RGB data plus dot clock and data enable signals.

Operating over the extended temperature range of -10 to +70º C, wider than previous types, these panels are suitable for a wide range of applications such as industrial PC, monitors in process control and display terminals for control or information systems.

Sunrise can also provide design-in support and advice on interface modules for all the display panels it offers. The extensive range of NEC active-matrix thin film technology (TFT) flat panel displays for industrial applications ranges from 5.5-inch to 12.1-inch formats. These products address a wide range of markets -- including factory automation, medical instrumentation, information displays and kiosks as well as in-flight entertainment systems.
