New NEC 8.4" panel from Sunrise offers SVGA resolution

LVDS interface and compatible form factor suit wide range of applications

Dedicated NEC distributor Sunrise Electronics has just added a new 8.4inch display to its extensive range of colour TFT modules from NEC. The new model has a compatible form factor with existing displays in the same screen size, allowing developers to enhance system performance or upgrade equipment without changing mechanical design.

NEC’s new NL8060BC21-02 is a high resolution (SVGA) 21cm (8.4inch) panel with a wide viewing angle of 80º from the normal (left and right) 80º up and 60º down. It offers the industry standard resolution of 800 x 600 pixels in up to 16 million (16,777,216) colours with a fast response time of 25ms. This makes it suitable for applications demanding superior picture quality, such as control panel applications or information systems.

This new panel has a very high brightness of 400 candelas per metre squared (cd/m2). Two high efficiency cold-cathode fluorescent lamps ensure even backlighting and can be replaced if needed. Its high contrast ratio of 500:1 makes it suitable for a wide range of ambient lighting conditions.

The NL8060BC21-02 uses the industry standard single link LVDS digital interface, and accepts 8bit or 6-bit RGB data plus dot clock and data enable signals. Scan direction is reversible.

Operating over the temperature range of -10 to +70º C, these panels are suitable for a wide range of applications such as monitors in process control and display terminals for control or information systems.

Sunrise can also provide design-in support and advice on interface modules for all the display panels it offers. The extensive range of NEC active-matrix thin film technology (TFT) flat panel displays for industrial applications ranges from 5.5-inch to 21.3-inch formats.
