SUNRISE TARGETS COMPACT MULTIMEDIA DISPLAYS WITH NEW 9-inch WIDE FORMAT DIGITAL LCD PANELS

W-VGA format from NEC suits wide screen TV and multimedia

Dedicated NEC distributor Sunrise Electronics has just extended its range of high performance LCD modules from NEC to include an exciting new 9-inch model in widescreen format suited to digital TV and multimedia presentations as well as gaming consoles and public displays.

NEC’s NL8048BC24-01 is a new 9-inch (diagonal) W-VGA panel offering 800 x 480 pixel resolution. It can display up to 16,194,277 colours simultaneously (true colour), and has a fast response time of only 25ms (t_on + t_off) making it ideal for video or multimedia applications. Two replaceable built in long-life cold cathode fluorescent lamps provide backlighting with a very high brightness of 400 candelas per metre squared (cd/m²). This panel has a very high contrast ratio of 500:1 (typ) and offers very wide viewing angles (80° from the normal, L & R, 80° up, 60° down), making it suitable for use under a wide range of viewing conditions.

These new panels have a built-in industry standard 8-bit LVDS interface, allowing them to be driven from RGB 8-bit data plus dot-clock and data enable signals. Suitable for use in ambient temperatures from -10° to +70°C these modules are part of NEC’s industrial range of panels readily available from Sunrise. Sunrise can also provide design-in support and advice on interface modules.
