SUNRISE SHOWS NEC COMMITMENT TO INDUSTRIAL LCD AT EID

Transflective technology sets new standards

Dedicated NEC distributor, Sunrise Electronics will demonstrate at EID 2003 how NEC continues to be LCD manufacturer of choice in the industrial marketplace. Existing display technologies continue to be enhanced with wider viewing angles, high brightness variants and digital interfaces. Transflective technology, available now, brings new levels of performance under widely varying ambient conditions including direct sunlight.

Featured at this years show will be exciting new displays with Transflective technology pioneered by NEC to give optimal viewing under the widest possible range of ambient lighting conditions. The transflective LCD panel is based on a combination of NEC's advanced transmissive and reflective LCD technologies. In reflective mode, these panels have a high reflectivity and a contrast ratio of 15:1. In transmissive mode, built in backlighting achieves a luminance of 250 candelas per metre squared (cd/m2) and a contrast ratio of 100:1. Current 8.4in SVGA and 10.4inch VGA modules will be joined by other variants later in the year.

Sunrise continues to win business in the industrial area with NEC offering the largest industrial LCD product mix. Support for long-term contracts demonstrates Sunrise and NEC’s commitment to longevity of supply. Future proofing and the opportunity for enhancements to customer designs are supported by NEC’s policy of new generation modules with direct form fit replacement to older parts.

Enhancements to LCD technologies open up new areas of applications and NEC are leaders in this sector with panels offering higher luminance, faster response times, wider viewing angles, higher contrast ratio and wider temperature ranges than ever before. Sunrise can provide design in support and advice on drivers for all NEC’s analogue and digital display modules.
